The International Science Teaching Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving STEM education worldwide, endorses the Math Bits educational project. Math Bits was developed by an interdisciplinary team of researchers in mathematics education and the learning sciences and is grounded in the latest evidence on how people learn.

As part of its mission to advance STEM education, ISTF awards this distinction to schools that implement teaching practices aligned with scientific evidence and use Math Bits systematically across grade levels. The Certificate of Excellence in Mathematics Education recognizes institutions that demonstrate a sustained commitment to high-quality math instruction, foster deep conceptual understanding, and strengthen student learning.
